Amanda spent part of her childhood as a member of a cult. How has that changed how she views the world? 

 

Trust is a central theme of Cover Me in Darkness. Amanda trusts almost no one, including herself. How does that impact how she leads her life? Do you think that will change after the events in the book? 

 

Are there special bonds between mothers and daughters? Amanda is the only one in her family still in contact with her mother. What is it that drives her to stay connected? Does Amanda’s relationship with her mother exist because of that bond or despite it?

 

Amanda was raised by a mentally ill mother. She fears she too might have mental issues. How is her reaction to their upbringing different than her brother’s? Do her perceptions about her mother’s illness change over the course of the story?
